During this webinar our panel of speakers will be discussing the benefits of the Notified PIF that is expected to be launched in Malta by the end of the month. This new fund framework, which is similar to the NAIF and the RAIF in Luxembourg, allows small set ups below the EUR100M threshold. This structure will provide a solution for the smaller managers or third country managers who will not need a full scope AIFM to manage their fund. It will also provide a quicker time to market making it easier to secure seed investors without waiting for an application to go through the licensing process

Brendan has successfully completed regulatory personal questionnaires with many financial regulators, most recently with the Central Bank of Ireland and the Malta Financial Services Authority.

Anabel Mifsud Anabel joined Fexserv Group in 2008 to set up and lead the fund services arm of the group and regularly advises managers on fund structures both in Malta and other jurisdictions varying across different type of fund types and strategies. Anabel is also governor on the Board of FinanceMalta, Chairperson of the Malta Asset Servicing Association and has recently been appointed as a Board Member of EFAMA.

Dr. Tillmann Sachs, PhD Sachs is the CEO and founder of J8 Capital Management LLP, an investment management firm and regular hosting platform with licenses in UK and the US. Tillmann established J8 in January 2012 and launched the firm’s first Malta domiciled Professional Investor Fund (PIF) in October 2012.
Prior to establishing J8 in 2012, Tillmann originated structured derivatives solutions and focused on customized rule-based trading strategies at Barclays, UBS, and AIG. Tillmann holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering in applying artificial intelligence to risk quantification in project finance from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
Craig Schembri
Director at Deloitte Malta
Craig Schembri joined Deloitte Malta’s tax function in 2003 after graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Accountancy (Hons) from the University of Malta.
Craig leads the firm’s Tax – Mergers and Acquisitions function and is also heavily involved in advising a portfolio of local and international corporate clients operating in various industries on Maltese direct tax matters, mainly relating to corporate groups’ shareholding and operational restructuring, vendor/buyer tax due diligence services, and transaction advisory/tax structuring projects.
Craig is currently the chairperson of the MIA Direct Tax Committee
